SignedCredits exists because the only Deaf film database in existence had no submission form, no way in, and no record of films that deserved to be there — including his own.
In 2025, Rydrea Walker — a Black Deaf filmmaker and founder of WarriorsGate Entertainment — went looking for his work on the only database dedicated to Deaf cinema. It wasn't there. None of it. No submission form. No way in. Just — absent. As if the films had never been made.
SignedCredits is the answer to that absence. An open, community-owned database where any Deaf story — any film, any short, any web series, any documentary — can be submitted, credited, and found. No gatekeeping. No editorial control. No one person deciding what belongs.
We built it the way it should have always been built — with a submission form anyone can use, profiles filmmakers actually own, and credits that reflect the full reality of Deaf cinema across 60+ countries and 34 sign languages.
To make every Deaf story fully credited — and fully findable. We believe the history of Deaf cinema belongs to the Deaf community, not to any single editor, organization, or gatekeeper. SignedCredits is the open record that community deserves.
With over 14 years of experience in film and media production, Rydrea Walker is a director, writer, and producer dedicated to bringing Deaf culture to the biggest screens in the world. He founded SignedCredits after noticing his own films were absent from the only Deaf film database in existence — no submission form, no way in, no record. SignedCredits is his answer to that absence, and part of a larger mission to build the infrastructure the Deaf filmmaking community has always deserved.
SignedCredits is an independent platform developed by WarriorsGate Entertainment, Inc. — a Deaf-led, multi-division media and entertainment corporation committed to amplifying Deaf voices in cinema. WarriorsGate believes that infrastructure matters as much as storytelling — and that the Deaf filmmaking community deserves both.
SignedCredits is building a Community Advisory Board — a group of Deaf filmmakers, festival programmers, and educators from around the world who help guide the platform's decisions, policies, and priorities. If you're interested in being involved, we'd love to hear from you.
Submit your films. Claim your profile. Suggest edits. Every contribution makes SignedCredits more complete for every Deaf filmmaker who comes after you.
