SignedCredits is an open database — anyone can submit. Here's exactly how we make sure what goes live is accurate, respectful, and worthy of the community it serves.
Every title submission and profile edit goes through a moderation queue before going live. This keeps the database accurate without requiring anyone to apply for permission to contribute.
Fill out the submission form with as much detail as you have. Required fields ensure minimum quality — everything else is optional but encouraged.
Your submission lands in our moderation queue with status "In review". You receive a confirmation email with a reference number.
A moderator checks the submission for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with community guidelines. We may reach out if something needs clarification.
Approved submissions go live immediately and are linked to any matching people profiles. You're notified by email when your title is published.
Anyone can suggest an edit to any entry at any time. Edits go through the same review process. This is how the database improves over time.
SignedCredits has a clear set of policies that protect the integrity of the database and the dignity of the community it serves.
Hearing actors who portray Deaf characters without Deaf experience or community involvement will be flagged in their credits. We do not celebrate casting that excludes Deaf talent from Deaf roles. This is noted factually — not editorially.
Productions that include a single Deaf character or performer for appearance rather than authentic representation will be noted. We track Deaf involvement across all roles — not just in front of the camera.
Submitting false cast or crew information is grounds for immediate removal of the entry and suspension of the submitter's account. Credits are sacred — they represent real people's real work.
Films with Deaf directors, Deaf writers, and Deaf producers are prominently tagged. We celebrate authentic Deaf leadership behind the camera — not just in front of it.
ASL is not the default. BSL, Auslan, ISL, LSF, DGS and every other sign language are tracked and celebrated equally. Deaf cinema is global and our database reflects that.
If you believe an entry is inaccurate or unfair, you can flag it for review. Both parties are heard before any change is made. Moderators make the final call based on verifiable information.
See something wrong? Every title and profile page has a "Suggest an edit" link at the bottom. Use it — it takes two minutes and helps the whole community.
If you find content that is harmful, defamatory, or seriously inaccurate, don't wait for the standard edit process. Email us at moderation@signedcredits.com and we'll review it within 24 hours.
As SignedCredits grows, we're building a community moderation team — trusted Deaf filmmakers and community members who help review submissions in their region and sign language community. If that interests you, we'd love to hear from you.
